It’s Unboxing Time!
This week we’re going to look at a couple vinyl records. It’s actually the same album, but there are two different versions.
Why two versions?
It’s often the case a regular and deluxe edition of albums are released. That’s basically the case here. Except the reason why is pretty brilliant. The album we’re looking at is the soundtrack for the first season of Severance, on Apple TV+.
If you’ve watched the show, you’re aware of the idea of the “innies” and “outties.” Basically, working at this one company, you volunteer to a medical procedure which inserts a chip into your brain. When you go down to the “severed” floor, you lose all memory of the outside world. When you leave, the opposite happens. You have no memory of what happened during the work day. Why? Watch the show.
To showcase this idea, Mondo has released two different versions of the album with an “innie” and “outtie” theme. As I said, it’s pretty brilliant. Obviously the “innie” version will be more expensive, since there are “bells and whistles” with it.

As I mentioned in the video, I’m a sucker for colored vinyl. That being said, the regular black vinyl as has its appeal because of the packaging. It just makes more sense.
I love the show. I cannot wait for the second season. Sadly, because of the writers and actors strike, it’s going to be a while until it comes out. If you haven’t watched the show, I strongly recommend you check it out. Apple TV has some cool shows.
Let me know what you think. Which version do you like better?
