It’s Unwrapping/unboxing time!
I don’t often do openings of vinyl records. Vinyl has made a huge comeback the past couple years. They’ve long been part of my life and the music industry and fans are definitely embracing the old physical media format of music.
This week we’re going to look at the box set for the 30th anniversary of Green Day’s Dookie. The album was first released on February 1, 1994, so it looks like this set is actually a little early. That’s totally fine!
The set features the original album plus a lot of extras, demos, outtakes, and live recordings. There is also some memorabilia included. Check out the opening of the set.
It’s a massive set. It has six vinyls and unfortunately retails for $174.99. Vinyls tend to run in the $20-30 neighborhood for a single disc so this price isn’t too unreasonable. Plus you also get some cool extras.
The color set is limited. There is also a black vinyl set with the same other stuff and also the same retail price. If you prefer, there is a 4-disc CD set but doesn’t have the dog poop bags.
You can find these sets at Green Day’s online shop, or you can do like I did, and contact your local record shop to see if they have it in stock or can get a copy. The album can also be streamed on Prime Music, Spotify, etc. I haven’t checked if every single song is available, but it did look like it might. It’s good stuff.
Are you a Green Day fan? Do you want to see more vinyl record unwrappings?
