It’s Unwrapping Time!
This past Friday was Record Store Day at indie record stores. What this means is record stores get the opportunity to sell limited edition and exclusive versions of different vinyls from a wide variety of artists from every era in music. Sometimes they’re re-releases or they could be newly released live recordings, etc.
Olivia Rodrigo released her second album earlier this year. It turned out with the four different colored vinyl releases from her store, each contained a different “secret track.” These “bonus songs” are not currently available to stream anywhere. The only place you could hear them was on each different vinyl. Until now.
Rodrigo released a four-track vinyl with the four songs and made it available only at indie record stores. Take a look at the vinyl and the etching on the flip side.
Being limited to 7500 isn’t super low. On the other hand, she does have more than 7500 fans. That means that many were not able to get their hands on a copy. According to many on Reddit, most stores were not able to get as many copies as they tried ordering. Despite limiting sales to customers who waited in line, there are still many who went straight to eBay to try selling this at an inflated price.
Obviously, I opened my copy.
