SDCC 2024: Off THEIR Minds – Should Villains Have an Ongoing Comic Series?

Recently on an episode of my Patreon-exclusive bonus podcast, I discussed whether or not supervillains should or deserve to have an ongoing comic book series. They are villains after all. Often, they are pretty evil or despicable. It almost seems like it would be wrong to read a series focusing on their evil deeds. Then again, it could be interesting to discover what motivates them or what their end goal really is.

At San Diego Comic-Con, I asked this question to comic creators you often see on the weekly Amazing Art Picks posts — Todd Nauck, Dan Parent, Peter Nguyen, Art Baltazar & Franco. They did not have any prep for the question. The camera was rolling and they had to answer, off the top of their minds.

What are your thoughts?

Do you think villains deserve some time in the spotlight? Are they simply misunderstood? Are they more interesting? Should we be rooting for the villains?

Stay tuned for more Off THEIR Minds questions in the coming weeks.
