Rick And Morty: The Complete Seasons 1-7 Review

If you’ve ever watched Rick and Morty, you’re likely a fan. If you have watched it and didn’t like it…I’m sorry? Surely there must be something wrong. The show is hilarious and pretty dang clever at times. It seems pretty much nothing is off limits when the writers craft their jokes. It’s often shocking, in a way, who or what they’ll poke fun of or how far they’ll take a joke.

Warner Bros. Discover Home Entertainment has recently released a DVD box set of the first seven seasons. That means there’s a lot of Rick and Morty to watch. How much ? How does 71 episodes sound.

Just be warned, if you’ve never watched it, it’s not exactly something you’d watch with the entire family.

Some may call the content and humor “vulgar.” I say it’s…sophisticated. It often takes a lot to make me laugh, but this show pretty much will always crack me up.

Along with the 71 episodes, you get all the expected special content materials that series box sets come with. That means audio commentary, deleted scenes featurettes, and “Inside the Episode” segments.

I also posted an unboxing video the other day if you’re curious what the poster and discs look like.

Obviously I’m not going to review the actual show, episode by episode. I’ve already commented on how funny and clever it is. What we do need to discuss the massive elephant in the room. I’m not going to lie, I was a little surprised when this set was announced, and I saw it was being released on DVD.

For me, it’s all bout the 4K Ultra HD Blu-rays. Surprisingly, I didn’t own any of the previous seasons and thought this would be a good time to get the set. Obviously, the DVD format offers a lower price point for the collection. When I popped the discs into my 4K Blu-ray player and watched on my HD TV, it looked really good.

That being said, I don’t have any of the Blu-rays to compare it to. If you’re looking to watch all seven seasons, this is a good deal.

I’m sure there are some people that might be asking “Who still buys DVDs (or Blu-rays or whatever)?” I sure do. Physical media is king. You cannot rely on streaming services, as great and convenient as they are. While I absolutely stream shows and I’m subscribed to practically every streaming service there is, it’s important to be able to “own” the physical copies.

In other words, if you’re a fan of Rick and Morty, you should definitely pick up this physical set. You never know when someone might bet “offended” by an episode and then it has to get pulled from streaming and just disappears. These episodes are too funny to allow them to just disappear.

So the hard question is, what is your favorite episode?
