Unwrapping: Escape From New York 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Steelbook

It’s Unwrapping Time!

I love John Carpenter’s Escape From New York. Or at least, I think I do. I know I did. It just happens I haven’t watched it in a long, long time. I don’t remember if it was the first time I saw it, but I do remember watching this movie with my parents and brother at a drive-in. It was a double feature with Blues Brothers being the second movie. I just remember Kurt Russell being such a tough, cool guy.

Now that the movie has been re-released in the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format with a pretty snazzy steelbook, how could I resist?

Take a look at what the back, discs, and inside art looks like.

Now it’s a matter of finding the time to re-watch. I can’t wait.

I really hope the movie holds up. For some reason, I’ve always held it on a sort of pedestal as a really cool movie. It could be that it simply is a really cool movie. Fingers crossed it’s not just a nostalgia thing, and it ends up feeling dated.

Have you watched it lately? What are your thoughts?

Also, as I asked in the video, do you like the cover art for the steelbook, or do you think they should have used a different image?
