Unwrapping: Green Day – Saviors (édition de luxe) Clear With Pink Splatter Vinyl

It’s Unwrapping Time!

This week, it’s another “deluxe vinyl.” That means it’s an album that was already released then released a second time with new extra songs and live performances.

Green Day has released a deluxe edition, or édition de luxe, vinyl on Friday, May 23. The album originally was released on January 19, 2024. I posted that version in a pink with white and black splatter vinyl on TikTok, last year.

The deluxe version now has a gatefold, and exclusive poster and zine. This album also comes on a clear with pink splatter vinyl.

As mentioned in the video and in last week’s Linkin Park deluxe unwrapping, I’m a little annoyed at this new “deluxe” trend. Bands are releasing albums and then, surprise! It turns out they have extra songs they must’ve magically found.

From a business standpoint, I get it. Also, no one is forcing us to buy the album again. It’s just a bummer that if you’re a big fan, you’re kind of forced to buy it if you want to have the all the new content. The new songs are available on streaming services, but the live performances are not.

As I mentioned last week, at least blink-182 released two versions of the deluxe set–a double vinyl release with the previous and new songs as well as a separate single vinyl with just the new songs for those who do want to buy the previous songs a second time. Of course since I love blink so much, I actually bought both versions. So maybe I’m kind of part of the problem?

Let me know what you think of this release and which new songs you dig.
