We’re about to discover more about the future of the Marvel Universe.
Today at San Diego Comic-Con, during the Marvel Comics: X-Men panel, Marvel’s Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski, Tom Brevoort, and others dished out information on the comic event beginning in October.
We’ve caught some glimpses already as the story has begun to take shape, despite the main story taking place ten years in the future. The cause of the changes come from the heir of Apocalypse, Doug Ramsey, reshaping the world.
Ramsey was chosen to be Apocalypse’s heir. He recently made his way to Cyclops’ X-Men team up in Alaska. This is how it all begins. Age of Revelation takes place ten years in the future where Doug’s vision of survival of the fittest will creates a world where mutants are the only ones fit to survive. Aided by his Choristers throughout the world, Earth will be transformed and ravaged by the mysterious X-Virus.
Of course not everyone is going to sit back and accept the changes. There will be plenty who will rise up and rebel against the new status quo.
Marvel has released the covers, synopses, and creative teams for the majority of titles shipping in November.

There’s a lot to take in here. What are my thoughts?
Seems the longer you read comics, the easier it is to be a little skeptical or jaded when it comes to the next BIG comic book event. There are obviously some similarities to what we’ve seen years ago with Age of Apocalypse and seeing the Marvel landscape transformed.
The big difference is this feels like it’s actually taking the rest of the Marvel universe into consideration. In the past, X-Men events pretty much only affected X-Men titles, Spider-Man events only affected Spider-related titles, etc.
We do have a lot of key creators on board with this. That’s a good sign. Let’s go ahead and shake things up. Let’s see what Marvel and the creators are cooking up. I’ll check it out. How could you not be curious to find out what the heck is happening after reading those synopses?
