When comic book characters die, the death isn’t much of a shock to readers these days. What is surprising is when the story around the death is interesting and the character actually remains dead for a long period of time.
Wolverine died back in 2014. You can read about it here. Despite having Old Man Logan from an alternate reality stuck and operating in the present, the recent Marvel Legacy #1 showed Wolverine managed to return from the dead and escape his Adamantium prison. Not only is he back, he managed to get his hands on an Infinity Stone. Marvel has revealed where his story picks up.
Wolverine’s return has created some questions. It’s unknown why he was seeking out an Infinity Stone or how he managed to escape being encased in Adamantium. Now that he has an Infinity Stone, where is he and what is he up to?
Answers will be begin to unfold in 2018 with glimpses seen in after-credit scenes in certain Marvel titles, beginning in January–Captain America #697 on sale 1/3/18, Mighty Thor #703 on sale 1/17/18, and Amazing Spider-Man #794 on sale 1/24/18.
The other question is: What will this mean for Old Man Logan and X-23 (All-New Wolverine)?
