West Coast Avengers #5

Best Reaction To Getting Locked Under A Force Field

Hawkeye took a call from who he thought was the mayor of Los Angeles. It turned out it was a trap for the team. Once everyone arrives at an abandoned amusement park, they discover they can’t leave. Gwenpool thinks it’s pretty cool.

Adventures Of The Super Sons #5

Best Reaction To Seeing A Future Version Of Yourself

Damian Wayne and Jonathan Kent have been having some crazy adventures. They get a surprise when they come face to face with their older selves (or do they?). Superboy has a pretty good reaction.

Best “My Parents Are Dead” Homage

You’re likely familiar with the image of Batman slapping Robin and saying his parents are dead. The moment happens when Damian feels the need to snap Jonathan back to reality. It may not be the nicest thing to do, but it’s a way to recreate the infamous scene.

Spider-Man/Deadpool #43

Best Deadpool Movie Reference

Deadpool is the king of making pop culture references. He does a “superhero landing” and acknowledges the fact that it was mentioned in the movie. He even calls out Ryan Reynolds for not being able to handle it.

Best Jack Kirby-Inspired Page Layout

Spider-Man and Deadpool are in the Negative Zone. Deadpool decides they should do a nine-panel scene since he knows he’s in a comic book. This confuses Spider-Man, but after 43 issues, he’s kind of used to it.

Prodigy #1

Best Reason A Super-Mind Is Great

In the first issue of Mark Millar’s latest comic, the main character is bullied for being smart and talented. He decides he’s going to get revenge by learning the moves of Jackie Chan, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Bruce Lee, and Chia-Hui Liu since he is able to learn faster than anyone. He ends up kicking the butts of the older boys, knowing he’d get expelled. He didn’t need that fancy school anyways.

The Green Lantern #2

Best Attempt At Explaining A Questionable Super-Villain Name

Evil Star, the old Green Lantern villain created in 1965, has a pretty cheesy name. He tries explaining why he chose that name and why it’s actually badass. The others don’t quite buy he explanation.

Deadpool #7

Best Unexpected Appearance By Santa Claus

Deadpool was hired by a bunch of kids to kill Santa. They’re upset because he didn’t deliver any presents. Deadpool makes his way to the North Pole and discovers Santa isn’t as jolly as he used to be. There’s a reason behind his mood and why he broke the hearts of all the kids. Of course Deadpool makes things better in the end.

Red Hood: Outlaw #29

Best Movie Walk Away Moment

How many times have you seen an action hero calmly walk away from a huge explosion? Normal people would scrambling and running for their lives, hoping they don’t get impaled or hit by any debris. Jason Todd shows just how cool he is after blowing up the bad guys.

Bully Wars #4

Best Reason Not To Eat During A Food Fight

Rufus the bully is competing in the Bully Wars to get control of the high school. He’s facing off against some challenging opponents. When a bully named Nom Nom challenges him, he recalls being told she eats more than any other kid. He throws all the food laying around in the cafeteria, and Nom Nom eats everything that comes at her. She soon gets sick and unleashes a tidal wave of vomit.

Marvel Knights: 20th #3

Best Indication That People Haven’t Forgotten About Grumpy Cat

Strange things are happening when all the heroes have forgotten who they used to be. Banner showed up at the police precinct and tells Frank Castle some kids have been scribbling him messages during the night. Castle mentions several fictional characters that could write notes and includes Grumpy Cat. Banner notes that Grumpy Cat is actually a real cat.

Best Holiday Scene
