There’s a crazy amount of comics released each week. Here’s a look at some of the strangest, coolest, and funniest things you might have missed in last week’s comics. These examples should give you more of a reason to pick up these titles at your local comic shop. You can also find more current and past examples on the Best Stuff Instagram page.
There may be some minor spoilers below.
X-23 #9
Best Way To Try Thinking Like A Robot

Gabby is determined the cyborg clone they captured can become another “sister” to her and Laura. When she realizes it left, she tries to think where it might’ve gone. The “boop boop beep” is just added cuteness overload as well as proof that Gabby is the best.
Man And Superman 100 Page Super Spectacular
Best Look At Clark Deciding To Create A Separate Superman Persona

Comic readers know how Clark changes his voice and posture to create a separate identity from Superman. It’s great to see this classic moment and Clark’s struggle in the story by Marv Wolfman and Claudio Castellini.
Champions #2
Worst Death This Week

Things don’t always go according to plan for superheroes. The Champions have a lot of firepower on their team, but they are still relatively new to the superhero game in comparison to other heroes. During a routine mission, it appears as if a major death may have occurred.
To find out what this means and the repercussions that follow, you’ll need to pick up the issue.
Harley Quinn #58
Best Out of Context Bird Box Moment

Batman is trying to determine whether or not Harley Quinn committed a murder or if she was framed. Taking her to the Batcave, he needs to keep her blindfolded. It just reminded me of a scene out of Netflix’s Bird Box.
Best Alternate Names For The Bat-Jet

Harley has the ability to get under anyone’s skin, even Batman’s. He’s clearly wound up too tight and needs to learn to relax a bit.
Best New Incarnation Of The Dynamic Duo

Could we and should we see more of the Dynamic Duo featuring Batman and Harley? I’d definitely read more of their “adventures.”
This was also a pretty awesome homage to The Dark Knight.
Deadpool #9
Best Reason Not To Talk With Your Mouth Full

Deadpool enlists Jessica Jones to help him solve a case of a missing heart–his. They pay a visit to Tombstone and Jessica shows why you shouldn’t get on her bad side.
Archie #702
Best Look At An Unexpected Romance

In the Archie comics, it’s usually been a matter of Betty or Veronica for Archie. It turned out after a summer apart from the rest of the gang, Archie and Sabrina Spellman struck up a relationship, unbeknownst to everyone else. It’s been pretty fascinating to see this story unfold.
Avengers #14
Best Update To An Old Ad Slogan

There are a lot of vampires going around in the pages of Avengers. Blade is seen dealing with some and makes a reference to the old Dunkin Donuts “Time to make the donuts” line from their old commercials.
It is interesting to note that Blade says/thinks/writes “doughnuts” instead of “donuts.”
Best Update To The X-Men’s “Fastball Special”

In the pages of the X-Men comics, a “Fastball Special” usually consisted of Colossus throwing Wolverine towards a big enemy. There have been variations with others, doing the throwing or being thrown. She-Hulk decides to grab Ghost Rider’s Hell car in order to execute a “Fireball Special.
Uncanny X-Men #11
Best Example That Cyclops Isn’t a Slouch

Cyclops is back from the dead just in time to witness the disappearance of pretty much all the other X-Men. (See Age of X-Man mini-series). As Cyclops tries to get answers, he shows some guys trying to jump him that he can kick some major butt and doesn’t even need to use his powers to do so.
Best Long Overdue Team-Up

Wolverine is back from the dead as well. Although, there may be two Wolverines running around (it looks like one is from the future and posses the Phoenix Force). Cyclop put out a call for any remaining X-Men to meet him a certain location. Of course a bunch of the X-Men’s enemies showed up instead. Luckily Wolverine did as well and there was some major carnage.
Female Furies #1
Grossest Thing We Don’t Want To Think About Concerning Darkseid

There are just some things we don’t need to know or think about when it comes to Darkseid. While it was interesting to think of the fact that he actually had a mom and needed to have her removed in order to usurp the throne, we definitely did not need to think about Darkseid and his hunger for non-food items. Proving he’s a complete scumbag, he throws around his power at a young Granny Goodness in order to insist she help him satisfy his hunger.
Tony Stark: Iron Man #8
Weirdest Donald Duck Analogy

Machine Man took some liberties in order to be able to give Jocosta a desperately needed recharge. She’s mad, but he points out that as robotic beings, it’s like Donald Duck complaining someone took his pants. He doesn’t wear pants and robots’ parts and port…areas are usually out there for the world to see.

That’s it for this week. Be sure to pick up these comics at your local comic shop, if you haven’t already if any of these moments strikes your fancy.
