Did you read this week’s Death Metal by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo? It’s as explosive as you were likely hoping for. Snyder has set up a bonkers situation and Capullo’s art and details ooze off the page.
This is the DC Universe cranked up to eleven.

If you’ve been thinking about waiting for the trade, the new preview pages for the second issue just might get you to change your mind. There are some characters I wasn’t sure we’d see again anytime soon.
We’re finally getting to see the Justice Society of America again. Their return was teased in Geoff Johns’ DC Universe Rebirth back in 2016. How great is that image with Wally West and Jay Garrick being reunited?
Meanwhile the other survivors or Perpetua’s grand scheme try to survive each other’s company in order to take back Earth. While this is going on, Lobo is out in space doing something, and we’ll be seeing the Robin King?
Here are the variant covers. The Wonder Woman cover is a 1:25 variant cover by Doug Mahnke, the Aquaman cover is by David Finch, the Harley Quinn cover is by Stanley “ArtGerm” Lau, and the Lobo cover is by Jerome Opeña.
There will also be a 1:100 black and white variant cover by Greg Capullo and Jonathan Glapion.
Death Metal #2 by Scott Snyder, Greg Capullo, Jonathan Glapion and FCO Plascencia is on sale July 14.
Update
Apparently this Robin King is going to be the stuff of nightmares. As DC put it in a press release, “What the Robin King whispers in response to his invitation to ascend beyond groblinhood will haunt you!”
You have less than a month to prepare.
