Marvel Brings Back The Exiles

What do you do when you have a robust multiverse filled with unlimited potential? You get a team of cool characters from different realities to bounce around and try to save the day.

The Exiles were created back in 2001 by Judd Winick and Mike McKone. Perhaps partially due to the character Blink appearing in the television show, The Gifted, Marvel is ready to bring her back along with a new team.

The series will be written by Saladin Ahmed, who recently won praise for his work on the Black Bolt series. Joining Ahmed will be the art team of Javier Rodriguez (Spider-Woman), Alvaro Lopez, Jordie Bellaire and Joe Caramagna.

Who will be guiding Blink and the Exiles? How about the original Nick Fury, now known as the Unseen since he took the Watcher’s place on the moon and is tasked to observe the events on Earth. Comic books, right? You gotta love ’em.

With a new threat against the multiverse, the Unseen recruits Blink and others to face the coming evil force. She’ll be joined by Khan, Iron Lad, Wolvie, and a mysterious to-be-revealed team member.

Ahmed made the following statement about the coming series:

‘EXILES is a two-fisted, big-hearted wild ride of a book about a diverse team of alternate universe Marvel heroes banding together to stop a dire threat to the multiverse. Sort of WHAT IF? meets classic X-Men. Grizzled old Kamala Khan! Disgustingly cute cartoon Wolverine! It’s a dream of a book to be working on for a Marvel fanboy such as myself, full of deep-cut guest stars and mind-blowing easter eggs. But it’s also new-reader friendly — a self-contained story of a group of misfits coming together, learning to trust each other, and, if they’re lucky, saving the !@$# universe.’

Exiles co-creator Mike McKone will also provide a variant cover for the first issue.
