Jean Grey is coming back. The first issue of Phoenix Resurrection: Return of Jean Grey arrived in comic shops last week. It’s been previously announced that the returning adult Jean would get a new costume and lead her own team of X-Men. The new series, X-Men: Red, will be written by Tom Taylor with art by Mahmud Asrar.
Here’s what we knew before.
The team members will include Namor, Nightcrawler, Wolverine (X-23), her sister Gabby (Honey Badger), the Wakanda mutant Gentle, and a mysterious new character named Trinary. The roster a pretty impressive team as it is.
Today, Marvel revealed another former X-Man will be joining the team in issue #3–Gambit.
Series editor Mark Paniccia made the following statement:
‘Things have heated up with attacks on mutants across the globe. We know that one of the X-Men’s most powerful villains is behind the chaos, but will Jean, Nightcrawler, All-New Wolverine and Honey Badger have a chance to stop the next deadly wave? A favorite Cajun mutant might be able to tip the scales in their favor… but at what cost?’
The first issue will be released on February 7. Gambit officially joins in April’s issue.
