Similar to most of the Marvel Universe, Tony Stark is getting a “Fresh Start” and a brand new series. It’s been said the new series will still retain the “Legacy” numbering on the covers.
Iron Man has gone through some tough times since his clash with Captain Marvel during 2016’s Civil War II. After being in a coma and then disappearing, Stark has recently reemerged just in time for a new series.
It’s been known that Dan Slott would be handling the writing duties after his ten-year stint on The Amazing Spider-Man. Join Slott is Valerio Schiti on art. In an interview with Nerdist, Slott described the series as “somewhere between Rick & Morty and Black Mirror.”
Editor-in-chief C.B. Cebulski also made a statement about the book:
“As a futurist, Tony Stark thought he had all the answers. But since coming back from the dead, he now sees the Marvel Universe in a whole new light! How does Iron Man continually evolve and stay relevant in a world where technology advances on a daily basis? Well, Dan Slott, Valerio Schiti, and Edgar Delgado are here to answer those questions as they take our Armored Avenger on adventures that push the boundaries comic storytelling and visuals! And Dan writes Tony with such heart…pun intended…we had to put his name in the title.”
We’ll have to wait to find out more details in regards to what sort of threats he’ll be facing. Slott has made it clear we’ll be seeing plenty of different types of armors.
Tony Stark: Iron Man #1 is on sale June 20, 2018. What are you hoping to see in the new title?
