The news continues to trickle in regarding the new creative teams and directions for Marvel’s “Fresh Start” series. Deadpool’s book is the latest to be announced.
Things have been pretty bleak for Deadpool as he’s been forced to kill some of his friends. This is especially tough considering there aren’t many who would consider Deadpool one of their friends. Skottie Young will take over writing duties with Nic Klein handling the art.
In an interview with Polygon, Young mentioned he originally tried to get Deadpool before pitching his idea for the Rocket Raccoon series. Young also said the following:
“I like to write stories that move fast and keep you on the ride. And I like to try and make you laugh while someone his getting their arm broken or head exploded. hahaha. Similar to my run on Rocket, I like doing shorter stories and have threads that weave in and out.”
As for what we can expect in the first issue, Deadpool will be trying to get his mercenary-for-hire business back off the ground. Unfortunately there’s an unfathomably huge “catastrophic threat” headed towards Earth, and there’s only one person who can stop it…Deadpool.
Deadpool #1 will be on sale June 6, 2018.
