The Fantastic Four are known as Marve’ls First Family. They are the first heroes to be published in Marvel’s modern era. They’ve gone through many adventures as a family as as heroes. Unfortunately, they haven’t been seen since the conclusion of Jonathan Hickman’s Secret Wars series in January 2016. While the Thing and Human Torch have been around on other teams, there was soon the question of where were Mister Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, their kids and the rest of the Future Foundation.
It looks like now we’ll be getting some answers.
The Thing and Human Torch have started a search for their former teammates. It was discovered, in the pages of Marvel Two-in-One, that their powers are dependent on each other. Prolonged time apart started resulting in Johnny Storm beginning to lose his powers.
Today, Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski announced in a video that Fantastic Four will return this summer in an all-new monthly series. Cebulski also announced the creative team of writer Dan Slott and artist Sara Pichelli.
In an interview with the New York Times, Slott said, “I started my adventures in the Marvel Universe with a freaked-out Reed Richards, the Watcher and the Silver Surfer I’ve wanted this for so long.”
We’ve all been waiting for the return of the team for so long.
Cebulski said they’ve been waiting for the right creators to come along. He also declared that Pichelli will be able to capture the feel and motion of the characters “like nobody else.”
An specific release date has not been announced. Marvel has stated the new series will go on sale in August.
