The Guardians of the Galaxy have gained a lot of popularity in recent years due to their various comics and blockbuster movies. Despite this, it turns out their time in the spotlight is over. Marvel has declared the Guardians “are no more.”
In some ways, this isn’t too big of a surprise considering how the team did in Avengers: Infinity War. Of course there isn’t always a direct correlation between what happens in the movies and in the comics.
If Marvel is shelving the Guardians of the Galaxy, then who the heck are the Asgardians of the Galaxy?
Marvel has answered this question today.
The new team’s formation will be seen in the events of Infinity Wars in aĀ new series by Cullen Bunn and Matteo Lolli.
The members will include Angela, the half-sister of Thor; Valkyrie (and the human Annabelle Riggs who shares her form); Skurge the Executioner (who has recently returned from Hel); Throg, the mightiest frog of thunder; Kevin Masterson, the kid who took his father’s enchanted mace to become the new Thunderstrike); and the Destroyer, the Asgardian armor that was built to take down Celestials. It’s unknown (for the moment) who is controlling the Destroyer armor.
The Asgardians of the Galaxy will debut in September.
