Superheroes in the DC Universe have become infected as a result of the Batman Who Laughs’ evil scheme. This will become the heroes’ worst nightmare as they’ll have to fight dark and twisted versions of their friends. The fact that some of the Infected are extremely powerful means Batman, Superman, and others will have their hands full.
One of those infected is Billy Batson/Shazam.
One of Shazam’s interesting aspects is the fact he’s basically a kid inside an adult superhuman body with power of the gods. Now imagine that kid being stripped away of any morals or sense of doing the right thing. Now that Billy’s been infected, the DC Universe will have to face Shazam’s power.
Writer Sina Grace had a great way of describing the writing process for this story:
“Let me put it to you this way: My soundtrack for writing an epic KING SHAZAM! story was Limp Bizkit’s ‘Break Stuff’ on repeat.”
