Locke & Key is finally coming. Based on the IDW comic series by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez, it’s a story about family and a bunch of freaky keys that unlock different things. The story was originally meant to air as a FOX television series back in 2011, but it didn’t get picked up after the pilot.
Now, thanks to Netflix, it looks like we may be getting the show the series deserves.
Here’s the official synopsis:
After their father is murdered under mysterious circumstances, the three Locke siblings and their mother move into their ancestral home, Keyhouse, which they discover is full of magical keys that may be connected to their father’s death. As the Locke children explore the different keys and their unique powers, a mysterious demon awakens — and will stop at nothing to steal them. From Carlton Cuse (Lost, Bates Motel) and Meredith Averill (The Haunting of Hill House), the series is a coming-of-age mystery about love, loss, and the unshakable bonds that define family.

rThe series begins on February 7 with a ten-episode first season. If you watched the trailer all the way to the end, you saw there was a URL listed for RendellLockeIsDead.com. You should definitely check that out.
It’s been a few years since I’ve read the comic. I really enjoyed it and can’t wait for the series to start up. I don’t quite remember there being so many other kids apart from the Locke siblings. I’m really curious to see how this will translate to live action.
