With Comic-Con@Home happening, the cast and executive producers for His Dark Materials held a virtual press conference discussing the upcoming season and what it was like working together. You can probably still watch the Q&A here.
During the panel, the trailer for the second season was shown. HBO also made the trailer available online.
As seen in the trailer, the first glimpse of the mysterious city of Cittàgaze can be seen. There is also footage of new cast members Andrew Scott (John Parry), Jade Anouka (Ruta Skadi), and Simone Kirby (Dr. Mary Malone), who join returning cast Dafne Keen (Lyra), Ruth Wilson (Mrs Coulter), Ariyon Bakare (Lord Boreal), Amir Wilson (Will) and Lin-Manuel Miranda (Lee Scoresby).
In the second season, Lord Asriel (James McAvoy) has opened a bridge to a new world. Lyra, distraught over the death of her best friend, follows Asriel into the unknown. There she will meet Will, a boy from our world who is running from a troubled past. The two will discover their destinies are tied to reuniting Will with his long lost father. At the same time, Mrs. Coulter searches for Lyra to bring her home by any means necessary.
His Dark Materials is available on HBO and to stream on HBO Max. Season 2 begins this Fall.
