Tony Stark And Emma Frost Are Getting Married?

Uhm, what?]

It appears that Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, and Emma Frost, aka the White Queen, are getting married. The immediate reaction is: Huh? What? Why? How? Take your pick. While these two have had interactions recently, they’ve been far from romantic. It just seems completely bizarre.

Earlier this morning, Marvel revealed the upcoming connecting covers to X-Men #26 and Invincible Iron Man #10, both drawn by Lucas Werneck. Both comics (and series) are written by Gerry Duggan.

After giving it some thought, maybe we can make some sense of this. Both are pretty savage in the business world. Perhaps they both see this as a lucrative business venture of some sort.

We have also been witnessing the continuing evolution of Emma Frost. Despite all her character growth, many still think of her as the woman wearing white lingerie in the Hellfire Club. We have seen her using that position in order to amass power and information from the knuckleheads who visited the club. She has also been seen as a fierce and caring teacher and mentor for her students. Even recently she has given massive assistance to Stark and even Captain America.

But does Emma Frost really want to marry Tony Stark? We have seen hints that she still carries a torch for Scott Summers.

What about Tony Stark? This is the guy who just recently proposed to Patsy Walker, aka Hellcat.

Tony proposed to Patsy LAST YEAR in Iron Man #10, written by Christopher Cantwell. Needless to say, that marriage didn’t happen.

There was also the time in 2018 where it felt like Marvel was forcing Tony Stark and Janet Van Dyne, aka Wasp, into being a couple.

What does that mean for Tony and Emma? Will they actually get married?

Here’s what Gerry Duggan had to say to IGN.

“Neither seems like the marrying type. Why this works, and how this works, and how much fun this is whether their marriage works or not will need to be seen to be believed and you’ll have to buy it to find out! They certainly don’t seem like they’re ready to be married to anyone, let alone to each other, but life can change quickly.”

We’ll have to wait and see. These two do seem to be a better match. It will definitely be interesting to see Emma move away from the X-Men and all the Krakoa business. That doesn’t mean the two will be settling down and buying a house in the suburbs.

X-Men #26, with interior art by Stefano Caselli, is on sale September 6. Invincible Iron Man #10, with interior art by Juan Frigeri, is on sale September 27. Be sure to “RSVP” with your local comic shop in order to secure copies of the issues.
