The latest X-Men film has a new trailer. In a fitting fashion, this looks like it could be the end for our favorite team of mutants.
We got a hint of what was to come in the previous teaser trailer. It’s clear someone is going to die. This new trailer just might deliver some concrete answers. Also, as we see Jessica Chastain in action, we have to wonder what exactly does her character want with Jean? Check out the trailer below.
The trailer opens with a distraught Jean. She asks, “Why did you make me do that?” She’s completely distraught over killing someone she considered a friend. The scene is intertwined with Mystique trying to reach out to Jean and calm her down, and Jean lashes out at her.
On the Jimmy Kimmel Show, Jessica Chastain gave a hint about her character.
“I play this character from another world, and I come to Earth because Ms. Jean Grey has a power I want to harness. For my own uses.”
It was first rumored she’d be playing Lilandra. This has been denied, but you never know. You can find more information on who Lilandra is below.
There are many moments with Jean struggling to contain the Phoenix Force. There’s going to be a lot of fighting with Magneto fighting alongside the X-Men once again. Even though we sort of saw this story play out in 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand, it looks like the stakes are being raised, and the franchise may be going out with a huge bang.
Who do you think is going to die? Will it be Mystique? Will there be other deaths? Since this is likely the final proper X-Men movie before the Disney/Fox merger moves things forward, there’s no telling who else might end up getting killed. That is something the X-Men do a lot in the comics.
At least we’ll get one more cool slo-mo sequence with Quicksilver.
